Laura Willenborg, MSW, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I received my Master of Social Work degree (MSW) in 2004 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and have been working in the field ever since.
I have had the opportunity to work with many different individuals with various needs since beginning my work as a clinical social worker. I have experience working with kids within the school system, engaging in mental health counseling of all ages, and working with older individuals within nursing facilities.
I work heavily within the family systems theory, and utilize psychosocial and attachment theories in my approach. I often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Schema Therapy as well as other approaches. Understanding ourselves, as well as understanding how we interact in our environment can help us to cope with difficult situations.
It is important to me that I hear each person, recognize their individual needs, and tailor our sessions to best meet their needs. I will make every effort to check in with you throughout your time in therapy and to ensure that you feel your needs are being sufficiently met.
